Commissions

Over the years, I have been so lucky to work with wonderful customers on a range of commissioned pieces and collections.  From bespoke dinnerware to creating specific sets from my ranges.

If you are looking for something for a special occasion, perhaps a milestone birthday, anniversary or hand made wedding gift. Or you have an idea for a piece to add to a collection or particular use - please do get in contact.

To give you an idea , here’s a couple of recent projects I have worked on.

‘They look superb. I love the new pie dishes. Now just need an oven big enough to bake 20 odd pies. I’m looking forward to designing our new kitchen around your work.’ James

This was a really fun commission for James, who asked for individual pie dishes. He already had a couple of my Mezze dishes and we tweaked the design to be a little bigger and also to have a more pronounced rim for the pastry. Its always a bit of worry which a large commission but thankfully the kiln gods were kind and the whole set came out beautifully. He even sent me a photos of the first batch of pies coming out of the oven.

‘They look amazing, thank you’ Marcus

Marcus came to me last summer to ask whether I would make a set of my little espresso for the wood-kiln to add to his growing collection of my work. Of course I said yes, especially as for some unknown reason I hadnt tried them in the wood-kiln before. The make took a little longer than planned due to the first batch not being right - that firing had areas of very little reduction in the kiln (the process that creates the variations and tones). So I decided to make a fresh batch and fire in the next firing this Spring and these came out beautifully.

‘That looks really lovely’ Sian

Sian discovered my wood-firing serving bowls at a local market - she loved the colours but wanted something a bit bigger as a birthday gift for her daughter. Combining a couple of designs and throwing bigger than I ever have before, the final bowl was success.

‘Mum and Lil absolutely love the pasta bowls.  They are so versatile and just perfect. Thank you!’ Jim

Jim has loved my wood-fired pieces for many years and asked me to create a slightly wider and shallow pasta bowl as gifts for his family.  After discussing the new designs, I was thrilled with the finished bowls. It’s always a little more challenging with commissioned wood-fired pieces as the there are lots more variables, but Jim and his family know and love the variations that the firing produces and were thrilled with the results.

‘Matt is over the moon with the cups.  He absolutely loves them.  Thank you so much.’ Lennie

Lennie got in touch after seeing some of my little espresso cups at a friends house.  Her husband loved them and she commissioned a set of six for his birthday.  It was lovely to look at all the glaze options with Lennie and we settled on a set in three of my shades colours.  As I had only made a few espresso cups before this, it was wonderful to work with Lennie on the design.  We settled on what went on to become the simple yet classic design you see in my espresso cups today.

‘They are so beautiful! A wonderful birthday present for myself.  Also, thank you for sharing the photos from the kiln firing.’ Catherine

Catherine initially bought one of my large wood-fired serving dishes before asking whether she could commission a set of six of my everything bowls.  It was wonderful to make her the set and as part of the process I sent her images of the bowls in the wood kiln so she could see a little more of their journey.

Due to the nature of commissioning hand made ceramics, it can take a little time with the design and making processes, so I would advise to get in touch as early as possible to discuss options and timeframes.  If you would like to find out more or discuss a commission please send me a message via the form below.
