FAQ’s

Naturally I would like your experience of my purchasing my ceramics to be the best possible and I have compiled details of the most frequently asked questions.  Please do contact me if you have any other questions.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR POTTERY

Whilst all my ceramics are able to go in the dishwasher, I advise to hand wash in warm soapy water.  The glaze is essentially a glass layer on the outside of the pot and just like glasses that go cloudy over time in the dishwasher, the same process will happen to ceramic glazes which can dull the colours.

Thermal Shock should be avoided with all ceramics by not exposing your pottery to fast changes in temperature. For example, don’t place a cold item into very hot water or vice versa a hot item into a sink of cooler water. If you are using any of the pieces in the oven, make sure they are at room temperature before using (ie don’t take straight out of the fridge and into the oven).

THE NATURE OF HANDMADE

My ceramics are made by hand in small batches and often show the makers marks.  Due to the nature of this process and use of natural materials, please be aware there may be small variations to sizes, shape and glaze finish between pieces and between batches.

Wood-fired Collections:  For these collections, items will be listed by design and glaze colour with  individual pieces then available separately so you will receive the exact item seen.  This is due to wood-firing producing larger variations.  When viewing a listing in the shop, you will have the option to choose on the drop-down menu and the corresponding image will show.

COMMISSIONS / MADE TO ORDER

I love the opportunity to take on special commissions.  Please contact me to discuss options and details.

DELIVERY

Delivery is available to all UK destinations.

I use 100% plastic free packaging and take great care in ensuring your new pot arrives safely.  Each item is carefully wrapped, firstly in paper bubble wrap and then in tissue paper. I then place inside a strong cardboard box with eco starch filler nuggets to keep it tightly in place.  This box is then placed inside a larger box with more filler to ensure it has second protective layer for its journey to you. On some occasions I may re-use other packaging materials but please be assured they are being recycled.

Delivery starts from £7.95 and FREE delivery is available for all orders over £75 (use code FREE75 at checkout). Shipping costs are kept to a minimum and I only charge what it costs me to ship.  If you order multiple items that I can ship together, I will refund you any overages in delivery charges. Orders are dispatched within 1-3 business days with Royal Mail Tracked 48 service as standard. Once items have been dispatched you will receive a confirmation email with the tracking details.  If you have a specific deadline such as a birthday, please do let me know at time of order and I will do my best to get the order out as quickly as possible.

International shipping is currently not available via the checkout.  Please
contact me for details as I can arrange on a request basis.

In the unlikely event that your item is damaged during transit I will replace the item for you as soon as possible or provide a refund where replacement is not possible.  Please contact me within 3 days of delivery and include photos of damaged packaging and item.

COLLECTION FROM STUDIO

Pick up is now available from my Studio in Dorset.  Select Pick Up at checkout and I will email you on the next working day to arrange details / dates.

REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES

If you wish to return or exchange an item from your order, contact me within 5 days of delivery and return item to me within 14 days of delivery.

Buyers are responsible for both the return postage costs (unless item is damaged on delivery or faulty) and the item until it reaches me in its original saleable condition at which time I can process refunds or exchanges.  I recommend you use the original packaging where possible and pack it very carefully.

If you are wishing to exchange an item you would also be responsible for the cost of shipping for the replacement item.

All SALE / discounted items are purchased as seen and not eligible for refunds or exchanges.

Commissions, made to order and pre-orders are not eligible for refunds or exchanges.

OPEN STUDIOS  / LESSONS

My studio is not currently open for visits as it is within my private family home. With the exception of previously  arranged collections of orders.

I’m afraid I don’t offer pottery lessons at this stage.  Its something I’d like to do at somepoint in the future but it may be a little while as my current studio isn’t really suitable.
