Salt Pig in Russet

£42.00

Wood-fired

Who doesn’t love a little salt pig to bring a bit of something special to your table or kitchen side. These salt pigs are slightly smaller than a traditional one which means they are the perfect size to be on your table too.

Glazed in my lovely russet with its gorgeous rich earthy tones and variations from the wood-firing process.

The salt pigs come with a beautiful salt spoon hand made by local Somerset wood worker Tim Graham. This batch have been carved from foraged hazel using traditional green wood-working techniques and finished in a hemp seed oil. See more of Tim’s work here

All wood-fired pieces are completely unique and individual due the firing process - no two pots will ever be the same.

Two to choose from: Select from the drop down below and the corresponding salt pig image will show. The next two images will show the side and/or rear.

Salt Pig: 8.5cm w x 8.5cm h

Spoon: 9cm long approx (spoon you receive may vary slightly from that shown in images as these are handmade and each one unique)

Wood-firing is traditional process that is now only used by a few potters. It’s a labour of love as each firing take days loading and firing with a team stocking to reaching a temperature of 1280’C. Ash circulates the kiln landing on pots to create beautiful speckles, flames create rich colours and earthy toasted finishes. Each pot is balanced on clay packed sea-shells to stop them sticking to the kiln shelf, the shells leave beautiful marks and imprints on the base.

Whilst its fraught with uncertainty, its worth the extra effort for the beautiful unique pots that emerge, each a little different … just the way handmade pieces should be.

All my pottery is dishwasher safe but I recommend hand washing.
